Museumate is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how the app handles your information.
Data Collection
Museumate does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with third parties. The app does not contain any analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking services.
Data Storage
All data you create in Museumate is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account. This includes:
- Museum visit records (dates, ratings)
- Journal entries and photos
- Wishlist selections
- App preferences and settings
iCloud Sync
If iCloud is enabled on your device, Museumate may sync your visit data and journal entries across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's privacy policies. Museumate does not have access to your iCloud credentials.
Photos
Photos you add to journal entries are stored locally on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. They are not uploaded to any external servers. Photo library access is requested only when you choose to add a photo to a journal entry.
Location
Museumate may request access to your location to show your position on the museum map. Location data is used solely within the app and is never transmitted or stored externally. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
Museum Data
The museum directory data (names, addresses, descriptions, coordinates) is bundled within the app and may be refreshed from a remote source. This data is publicly available information about Dutch museums and does not contain any personal information.
Third-Party Services
Museumate does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs beyond Apple's native frameworks (MapKit for maps, CloudKit for sync, PhotosUI for photo selection).
Children's Privacy
Museumate does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require account creation or personal information of any kind.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new revision date.
